Terra future 2010

Seminar at Ordnance Survey, 10 March 2010

Agenda now available

The agenda for both days of the Terra future conference has now been unveiled.

As well as the keynote speakers already announced, Lord David Puttnam and Charles Leadbeater, the programme highlights presentations from a range of other leading experts.

Professor Mike Kelly, Chief Scientific Advisor for the Department of Communities and Local Government, will open the conference’s second day with an address on the grand challenges of sustainability, climate change and transportation.

Futurizon’s Ian Pearson and Robin Mannings of BT are to look at the use of technology in addressing the grand challenges, while on day one delegates will hear Ramon Arratia, of InterfaceFLOR, explore the opportunities to generate business and social value whilst pursuing a sustainability agenda.

Built in to the programme throughout are also a series of idea generation sessions as well as time for attendees to visit the accompanying exhibition.

Arlette Anderson, Head of sustainability at RICS, and Mark Cavill from Royal Mail are also among the speakers. Each will present on their own real life experiences of tackling the grand challenges from within large organisations.

The main speakers will be complemented by two Pecha Kucha sessions, one on each day, that allow speakers just 20 slides on which they can speak for only 20 seconds each. Topics to be covered in these high paced slots include social networking, sustainable transport and business in the community.

Event organiser Chris Parker comments: “We have assembled an outstanding array of personalities for Terra future 2009 all of whom will provide fascinating insights into tackling our global challenges. We’ve also been sure to include time for idea generation since we want Terra future to be an ongoing idea generating and collaborative initiative with the conference being just the first step.”
