Group Session Results

Delegates formed a number of discussion groups with equal numbers from each community in a facilitated discussion around practical joint uses of linked data and GI.

Some of the discussions:

"Administrative units such as Wards, and Local Authority areas etc vary over time, but do not change their unique ID. Therefore users can attribute statistics to an incorrect geographical area. ONS (Office for National Statistics) are tackling this problem with a new system of admin area identifiers but the issue remains for any stats which should be related to previous geographical areas. One solution may be to set up a series of geographical areas for specific epochs, and also link stats to the time epoch they belong to."
